When we consider all the ways we stay connected to people, places, things, ideas, and more, we can begin see a lot of attachment. However, attachment like this is not sustainable. Even if a person has lived their life with another, their connection may not be sustainable. Sustainability requires that nothing be depleted from a source. Attachment depletes.
Eckhart Tolle once said, “How do you let go of attachments to things? Don’t even try. Effort creates attachment. Attachment to things drops away by itself when you no longer seek to find yourself in them.”
Perhaps this is the lesson in all engagement. You can become engaged in anything as long as you don’t seek to become engaged. Then, and only then, will it be authentic and work itself out.
Eckhart Tolle delivers wisdom from such a calm and still place within. I find him to be quite humorous as well which is quite rare to find in a spiritual teacher. We sure do have much to learn from this present day zen master. Here is a Iist I made of my favorite Eckhart Tolle Quotes for anyone interested: https://awakeningvisions.com/eckhart-tolle-quotes/
