Never Diminished

If I was the wind
would you feel me in your hair
or let me blow past you?

Were the rain my fingers
would you feel me caress your hands
or would I fall off you in that impervious blue coat?

I am not the elements though
Not the sun or the moon, desert nights or ocean days
Salmon or sea lion, lynx or starnose mole

Merely a man, I want to be seen
Heard, felt, wanted, known
Not to disappear in the daylight or be gone at night

Never diminished by expectations
You’ll forgive my insistence
I am me, for real
