Come Spring

I have always been
Your love
and yours alone

Yet you handled me
as the wind carries
rain

My heart is humongous
to Them
For you, it was this small

Tender, fragile even
I know
that’s no prize

It is simply how I am
I need care
in return

In return I give and share
with eternal wonder
for your beauty

Beauty of heart, purpose, soul
Love, love
for you

I cannot be treated
callously, indifferently
by You

My freedom is in fairness
as is yours
Definitions similar, realities differ

And so we drift 1,000 miles away
In spirit
Next door in reality

Today, I surrender again
Goodnight my love
Rest well

Christmas is for birth
Valentines for love
Easter, resurrection

Maybe
together again
this spring?

I have always been
Your love
and yours alone
