Johan Wolfgang von Goethe wrote, “Everything that happens to us leaves some trace behind; everything contributes imperceptibly to make us what we are.” Looking out from Heartspace into the world around us, we can see that our personal engagement, our community engagement, and our universal engagement are endlessly in force to secure, sustain, and compel our sustained connections to the worlds within and around us.
We might not be able to see these connections, understand what they are, or fully comprehend what they do. That’s not the important part. The important thing is know that they’re working for us right now with no further work involved. We do not have to do anything for our engagement; if we want to, that’s awesome and we should get about it! But if we don’t, it doesn’t really matter. There are countless, endless, and infinitesimal engagements going on to us and through us everywhere, all the time.
This is what von Goethe was explaining to us, and is what the Heartspace Teachings are all about: Engagement with ourselves, with the world around us, and with the universe we live in always, in all ways. That’s life!
