Nervous Sleep Watcher

Watching you
sleep
I get nervous

Nighttime
mist floating
city streetlights shrouded

Drift away to sleep
Pull in a million stars
Orion
Toward faraway dreams
escape

I hear you.
Quietly at rest
re-energizing
while fully escaping your body
you float

Past this house
toward your eternity
into the rooms
of a life
ahead
lives past
and dreams

In the ether
are dreams
unknown
I cannot argue
value
or give a reason
for you to come home

When the morning comes
you arrive
Eyes flutter,
suitcase unpacked
thank you
a million times
for coming
home
