July 4th

Your eyes unmistakeably light up
Thoughts scattered across a field in the twilight
Pervasive calm attempts to awaken my soul
*Flash*, *Sparkle*
“Bam! Pop!”
Crossed neighborhood with fingers entwined
Sweetness, stimulation
*Shine*, *Sparkle*
Smile and release
I understand this brightness
Unfamiliar, yet common, they reassure me
I get the *bang* and the *pop*
They could be recognizable
I don’t quite understand this interplay
Fingers crossed
Familiarity and ease
*Flash* *Shine*
Twilight’s colors hugged the treeline
*Pop!* *Bam!*
Day done, sweet dreams await
Confusion rests for now
