Pathless Walk

Life reveals
doesn’t it?
A gradual reveal
never ending
Not for lotus-eaters who
“forget all thoughts of return”

That, the pathless walk,
Is what this is all about
Without knowing where we are heading
or what is around the corner
Keep walking
Everyone of us
Varying revelation
throughout life

That, the pathless walk,
Is what this is all about
Scoot along in centimeters
Jog at full stride
Arms flailing
Grab onto the next solid object
I am a stroller
meandering to take it all in

That, the pathless walk,
Is what this is all about
Release many adherences
to normalcy, unnecessary standards
Fluid identity
Resident, alien, teacher, student,
citizen, immigrant, producer, consumer,
lover, partner, friend, enemy,
wealthy, poor, child, adult…
Each transition, back, forth

That, the pathless walk,
Is what this is all about
Stabilities are the last bastions of familiarity
with roots in my psyche
Pleasantly tethered
anchored in mainstream
Most things present revealing forms
As soon as they’re named
Relationships, duties, values, geography
All shift, sway
according to whims and
my adherence to what I knew them to be

That, the pathless walk,
Is what this is all about
Bushwhacking
Trudging sand, mud, muck
Swimming
Re-acknowledging spirit
Growing awareness of mutuality
Take comfort
knowing transformation comes soon enough
Reveal
No progress or accomplishment
Not on this walk

That, the pathless walk,
Is what this is all about
