Right now, already, here in this place, you’re already engaged.
There are a lot of organizations, businesses, communities, and people looking to engage you right now. However, the more they seek to bring you to them, the more you’ll get away from them. If you’re worried about getting engaged, you can stop now because there’s nothing more you need to do.
Thoreau once wrote, “Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.” The principle of engagement works much the same way, as all our attempts to get engaged are generally in vain. Instead, our work is to just let it be, all of it, and know that we’re engaged in the right ways all the time. If we’re supposed to be engaged in a different way we will be, as soon as we’re supposed to be.
When you’re ready to engage in something differently than you are right now, here’s something simple you can do: Breathe. Imagine how you’d like to be engaged in that person, place, thing, action, idea, or process. Then go become engaged in it. If you succeed, you will know you’re engaged. If you fail, you won’t have, because there really is no failure within Heartspace. The invisible blanket of Heartspace softly pads all of us together and we’re all engaged in the right ways, right now.
Right now, in this moment and from here forward, you can choose to experience Heartspace in an active way. Be with those connections that are sustained in your life, and let them bring you happiness or whatever you seek right now. You don’t need to go after anything; instead, you can be here, now.
Engagement is yours. Enjoy!
